5. Surgery Day: What to Expect

Before:

The nurse will prepare you for your procedure. This takes approximately 30 minutes. During this time, the nurse will: Verify your information, ensure that the surgical consent is signed, and document all necessary information in the record. Ask questions at anytime.

During:

Once you are taken to the operating room, your family members or visitors can wait in the lounge, cafeteria, or in the patient room. If your family members or visitors are waiting in the patient room, they will be called to let them know when you are out of surgery.

After:

You will be taken to the recovery room for a sufficient period of time until the patient becomes conscious and aware. Nurses will provide immediate care, and your family will be informed that the surgery is complete. After recovery, you will be transferred to a designated area, as recommended by your physician, where your family, companions, or visitors can meet you.

6. Discharge & Follow-Up

Discharge Timing:

Most patients leave by 11 AM – finalize billing 1-2 hours prior.
