Pre-entry instructions

Fasting before any surgical procedure requiring anesthesia: Do not eat or drink anything after midnight. Failure to follow these instructions may result in your surgery being canceled, as this may jeopardize your safety.

Consulting your doctor: Consult your doctor about taking any medications you may need on the day of surgery, including your usual medications, or any other necessary instructions.

Changing your admission time: If you need to change your admission time, please contact us as soon as possible and we will try to arrange a time that works for you. This will help with admitting other patients who may need it. 

Informing your doctor: If you feel unwell or have an upset stomach before admission, please inform your doctor.

Admission Day Instructions and Guidelines

Arriving on time: Please adhere to the specified time. If you are undergoing a scheduled surgery, please proceed to the valet parking service. Marka Specialty Hospital provides a dedicated parking space for patients, clients, and visitors.

Go to the reception department: Go to the reception and admission department on the ground floor.

Reception procedures: Admission procedures take place at the reception department, where the referral form is submitted to the admission clerk. Admission is based on a doctor’s order through the clinics or the emergency room, if you are self-admitted. If you are an insurance patient, please visit the accounting and insurance department.

Visit the accounting department: Procedures are completed for a self-admitted patient. For an insurance patient, the validity and approval of the insurance company are verified.

Booking a patient’s room: The room is booked, and the patient is informed of the floor or department they are to be admitted to, depending on the insurance level or personal account.

Admission procedures and data entry: The patient’s data is entered or updated according to personal and identification documents.

Declarations and authorizations: The patient signs the admission declaration after ensuring they have read and understood its terms, or the authorization is signed by their authorized representative in the case of minors and incapacitated patients.

Patient Rights and Responsibilities: The patient is informed of the list of rights and responsibilities and signs it. Entry to the relevant department: The patient is accompanied by a nurse.

Facilities in patient rooms

  • The rooms have their own TV, closet, and custom furniture. There is a telephone in each room. The nursing staff will explain how to control the bed and the call bell to summon nurses. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own pajamas, slippers, and personal hygiene items. If you use a walker or crutches, please bring them with you.  
  • You may bring electronic devices (such as a smartphone), light books, and small amounts of money, but we strongly recommend that you do not bring any valuables with you.
  • Each room has a private bathroom equipped with an emergency bell if you need assistance. Please press it to signal the nurse’s station and request assistance to your room.

Transparent Process, Expert Care

Instructions before, during and after surgery

Before:

Instructions before, during, and after surgery: The nurse will prepare you for your procedure. This takes approximately 30 minutes. During this time, the nurse will:

Verify your information, ensure that the surgical consent is signed, and document all necessary information in the record. · Change you into a hospital gown and assign you a bed. 

Familiarize you with the surgical environment and all aspects of the planned procedure. Then, perform a comprehensive assessment.

Explain all interventions, such as intravenous (IV) insertions, preoperative medications, diagnostic tests, and laboratory studies.

During:

Once you are taken to the operating room, your family members or visitors can wait in the lounge, cafeteria, or in the patient room. If your family members or visitors are waiting in the patient room, they will be called to let them know when you are out of surgery.

After:

You will be taken to the recovery room for a sufficient period of time until the patient becomes conscious and aware. Nurses will provide immediate care, and your family will be informed that the surgery is complete. After recovery, you will be transferred to a designated area, as recommended by your physician, where your family, companions, or visitors can meet you.

Seamless Transition to Recovery

Hospital discharge instructions

Your doctor will decide when you are ready to leave the hospital through a discharge order. All necessary discharge paperwork and related instructions will be completed (signing and stamping leave forms, filling prescriptions). Before you leave, your doctor, nurse, and other healthcare team members will provide you with instructions about your post-discharge care.

Final bill and medical records

Final Bill: Once your physician has recommended your discharge, please allow 1-2 hours for our staff, including the pharmacy, insurance, and billing department, to process your paperwork and prepare your final bill. When it is ready, you can head to the accounting department to pay. You can review the bill and ask our team any questions you may have. Your insurance amount will be paid based on your initial diagnosis. This insurance amount will be deducted from your account and may increase or decrease depending on the diagnosis and medical procedures. Our accounting team will inform you after your physician has explained the details of your medical condition. Medical Records: The accounting department will provide you with a discharge summary and reports. Sick Leave: You will be issued a sick leave as recommended by your physician. Your physician will provide you with instructions regarding follow-up appointments, which will be included in your discharge summary.
